Volcano slopes and crater, Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote, Canary islands, Spain. The Timanfaya National Park, opened in 1974 and designated by UNESCO a biosphere reserve, consists of over two dozen dormant or extinct volcanoes. The surrounding landscape is completely dominated by lava fields and volcanic cones.
